Bill Stevens heads up the Premium Wine Division of Silicon Valley Bank, where a team of more than 30 financial services professionals focus exclusively on the wine industry. With a growing team and dedicated offices in Napa, Sonoma and Portland, Bill invented and expanded a hospitality cross-over between his wine clients and SVB’s technology /venture clients.
Bill has spent more than 30 years helping families and businesses (family-owned, mid-size and corporate) achieve their goals. In part strategic thought "prodder" and in part finance expert, Stevens’ background represents broad-based experience in corporate finance, commercial & consumer banking. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Bank 16 years ago, Stevens held positions at Chase Manhattan and Bank of America, where he was a top producer of new relationships for his regions. He also managed the successful turnaround of a multi-billion regional bank. His career is highlighted by executive management positions with OffRoad Capital, where he focused on private equity placements for growth companies and founded the corporate finance department. Prior to his work with the private sector, Stevens worked for the U.S. Treasury, gaining nationwide experience in banking and corporate governance issues.
Stevens is a guest lecturer in corporate finance and banking topics at the University of California, Golden Gate University, California State University at Hayward and the Federal Reserve Bank, San Francisco.
Stevens received a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of California at Davis. He is active in the Wine Institute and The Land Trust of Napa Valley. He is also a member of numerous wine industry trade organizations in Napa, Sonoma, Santa Barbara, Paso Robles and the Pacific Northwest.
Bill is a native Californian and lives in Napa County with his wife, Teri and their three children. Weekends find him fathering, racing sailboats, cycling and maybe even taking a motorbike ride or two.
