Sulu Mamdani
Sulu Mamdani is a managing partner at SVB Capital, responsible for co-leading the group’s direct investment activity and managing venture capital (VC) fund investments. Sulu brings more than 20 years of private equity, investment banking and operations experience to SVB Capital.
Before joining SVB Capital in 2006, Sulu co-founded Mazu Networks (acquired by Riverbed Technology, Nasdaq: RVBD), a network security company backed by Matrix Partners, Greylock Partners and Benchmark. Prior to Mazu, he worked for The Carlyle Group, where he was responsible for managing VC investments in emerging technology companies and advising portfolio companies on financial and strategic growth initiatives.
Sulu graduated cum laude from Harvard College with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and received an MBA from Harvard Business School. Sulu and his wife, Zahra, are passionate about international development. They lived overseas in Mozambique before moving to California and finally residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Sulu and his family continue to support education and health programs in developing regions in Africa and Asia.
