Professional Summary

Ryan Ficks is a Director for SVB Private Bank in Menlo Park, California. Serving investors and entrepreneurs within the technology ecosystem, he specializes in full balance sheet advice — strategies that cover not just investing, but also all facets of fiscal decision-making. He’s quick to emphasize the importance of a long-term approach to investing.

Ryan is devoted to gaining a deep understanding of each client’s journey. How did they end up where they are now? What obstacles did they overcome along the way? The always-unique and ever-fascinating answers to these questions provide a foundation to help Ryan maximize each client’s success. His unique approach also involves focusing on what’s truly impactful. His clients — whom he ranks as some of the smartest people in the world — count on him to summarize and trim their financial options to a reasonable menu. In addition, Ryan loves the challenge of solving impossible-seeming problems and delivering for clients in a crunch: He specializes in putting others at ease.

Prior to taking on his current role, Ryan served as an associate at SVB Private Bank, where he advised private-equity and venture capital General Partners and Entrepreneurs. Ryan began his banking and wealth management career in 2006; his past positions encompassed work in insurance and annuities, fee-based planning, business development and networking.

In his free time, Ryan seeks out volunteer opportunities in his community. He has worked with SVB’s community development fund project in San Jose as well as BUILD, an organization that provides entrepreneurial experience to young people in under-resourced communities. He lives in San Jose, where his favorite pastimes include playing guitar, following sports and cycling through the peaks, valleys and coastal trails of the beautiful Bay area.
