Russell Follansbee is a director of technology banking at SVB in Boston, where he uses SVB’s platform of solutions to help high-growth enterprise software scale efficiently. Russell specializes in the cybersecurity industry and enjoys deep relationships he builds with entrepreneurs as he watches them bring bold ideas to life. Russell advises entrepreneurs on best practices to increase their chances of success; he also connects his clients to the products and people that can help solve the tough challenges groundbreaking businesses face.
Throughout the past decade, Russell has worked with high-growth innovators at all life stages, from pre-seed startups to billion-dollar juggernauts. This experience has afforded him deep insights into patterns of success and failure, making him a valuable resource to founders and C-level executives. He joined SVB as an associate in the specialty finance division in 2009 and later became a vice president in corporate finance before joining the technology banking team. Russell holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. He has also completed the Tuck Business Bridge Program at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Russell lives in Boston. In his free time, he serves on the Rising Leaders board of BUILD Greater Boston, an organization that calls on the tenets of entrepreneurship to help youth in underserved communities succeed in high school, college and beyond.
