James Wilson

James Abishek Wilson is a vice president for SVB’s Start-Up Banking team in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he crafts flexible banking solutions that help pre–Series A companies build a profitable business around a bold idea. In this role, James draws on the entire SVB network as well as an international community of peers and partners to help improve each client’s odds of scaling to the next level. James is passionate about serving ambitious founders during this exciting and pivotal stage of their growth, and he thrives on doing his part to help them advance problem-solving breakthroughs that will truly make a difference.

James understands what’s ahead for his emerging-tech clients. He first joined SVB in 2016 as a vice president for the bank’s Early Stage Practice group, for which he managed key relationships with enterprise technology startup accelerators. Prior to joining the bank, James worked with large, late-stage companies as a relationship manager for Wells Fargo in Charlotte, N.C. Earlier in his career, he served as a senior associate for an international accounting firm based in New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School in Chapel Hill, and a master’s degree in business administration from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

Through the SVB volunteer program, James values opportunities to serve area shelter residents.  He lives in Oakland with his wife, Meg, his son, George, and their dog, Pebbles. Ever since the family moved to California in 2016, they’ve been taking full advantage of all the outdoor and cultural opportunities that the Bay Area has to offer.
