Before joining SVB, Rebecca spent 13 years at DRI Capital, a Toronto-based private equity firm specialized in pharmaceutical royalty monetization. As vice president on the investing team, she led investment research and analysis across a range of investment opportunities, spanning multiple therapeutic areas and geographies. She also sourced potential transactions with institutional royalty holders, including research facilities, hospitals, universities and inventors.
Additionally, Rebecca worked at several Canadian biotech companies that were developing therapeutics and diagnostics for diabetes, endocrine disorders and infectious disease. This experience made her aware of the challenges facing emerging biotechnology companies and inspired her to use her background in finance to support leading-edge innovation with customized and innovative financial solutions. She also worked in equity research at BMO Capital Markets.
Rebecca earned her bachelor’s degree in pharmacology and toxicoloy and MBA from the University of Western Ontario. She volunteers her time as a juror for Women Who Tech, a not-for-profit organization that supports female technology entrepreneurs and works to close the funding gap through awareness and advocacy. Rebecca lives in Toronto with her husband and two children, and she enjoys travel and weekend adventures with them, in addition to great food and wine.
