Phil Cox


Phil Cox is the chief operations officer of Silicon Valley Bank and is responsible for the bank’s operations, enterprise project management, data, cybersecurity client service and information technology teams. He joined Silicon Valley Bank in 2009 to lead the establishment of the SVB UK banking business, as well as its operations in Germany, Ireland and Israel.

Phil brings a wealth of experience and leadership to Silicon Valley Bank. He was the head of commercial banking at Bank of Scotland in London, a division of Lloyds Banking Group. He was responsible for relationship management, origination and operational aspects of the business. Phil was also with the Royal Bank of Scotland’s NatWest Group for 23 years, where he held a variety of positions.

Phil sits on the governing board for NextGen Cyber Talent, a nonprofit that provides a platform to increase diversity and inclusion in the cybersecurity industry. He is an Associate of both Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) and the Association for Corporate Treasurers.

In Phil’s free time, he enjoys travel, photography, fishing and skiing. He is a qualified coach in rugby and cricket.
