Marita McGinn
Marita McGinn is a vice president of startup banking for Silicon Valley Bank in Boston, Massachusetts. She has more than 10 years of experience working with early-stage tech founders, operating pre-product startups, scaling companies and mentoring founders. Marita is responsible for working with pre-Series A tech startup companies in the greater New England market, collaborating closely with founders to ensure they are navigating the area’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and helping founders build connections within the startup community. She loves to see founders reach their goals, whether finding a stellar product-market fit, landing a customer deal or closing a fundraising round. Originally from Salem, Massachusetts, and having lived away for several years, Marita is excited to be back in New England to leverage her expertise and contribute to tech founders in the Boston Community.
Before joining Silicon Valley Bank, Marita was the vice president of sales and strategy at Floodlight, a Techstars-backed fintech data platform startup for financial professionals seeking to align investment to their values. Before that, she was with Techstars, where she created and operated their accelerator programs and acted as a bridge between the corporate and startup worlds, working hand in hand with partners such as the US Air Force and Barclays to facilitate meaningful connections both for early-stage startup entrepreneurs and partner companies. Marita led all program logistics, including events, mentor matching, speaker series and retreats. Earlier in her career, she was the manager of hardware outreach and sales for Indiegogo, where she collaborated with consumer-facing product entrepreneurs on go-to-market strategies and product launches, supporting hundreds of entrepreneurs and raising more than $15 million in presales orders. Marita became passionate about working with entrepreneurs when she held a role in community development and event planning at Tech.Co (now Established). While there, she managed the Startup of the Year program and brought together hundreds of entrepreneurs through various events and competitions.
Marita earned a bachelor’s degree with honors in management with a concentration in entrepreneurship and a minor in studio arts from DePaul University.
Outside of the office, Marita enjoys cooking new dishes, road trips, hiking mountains and time by the ocean. She has traveled around the country with her partner and their dog, Boone, to visit America’s national parks.
