Joe Hammer
Joe Hammer leads SVB’s Healthcare Corporate Finance practice. Based in Boston, he focuses on developing and expanding relationships with dynamic middle-market private and public healthcare companies throughout the United States.
Prior to joining SVB, Joe was the Chief Development Officer of Dohmen, a business process outsourcer for orphan drug, biopharma, and medical device manufacturers. Prior to Dohmen, Joe held roles of increasing responsibility at GE Capital, including leadership positions in healthcare financial services, corporate finance and the enterprise client group. He worked on transactions with an aggregate deal value of more than $5 billion, collaboratively designing cash flow, asset-based, venture-debt, and unitranche credit facilities to optimize client capital structures.
Joe graduated from GE Healthcare’s Financial Management Program and GE Corporate’s Experienced Commercial Leadership Program with distinction. He earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and management information systems from the University of Dayton.
He serves as immediate past chairman of BioForward, Inc., Wisconsin’s Biotechnology Industry Organization, PhRMA and AdvaMed Affiliate. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife and two daughters, cheering for the Packers, and playing acoustic guitar.
