Jeffrey Leerink


Jeff Leerink is the chief executive officer of SVB Securities, a leading investment bank serving healthcare and technology companies and investors. SVB Securities is one of SVB Financial Group’s (SVB) core businesses alongside Silicon Valley Bank, SVB Capital and SVB Private.

As a member of the SVB executive team, Jeff is charged with defining, leading and executing SVB Securities’ overarching business strategy and driving clarity, alignment and profitability across SVB.

The investment bank was formed in 2019 as the result of the merger of Leerink Partners, founded by Jeff in 1995, with SVB Financial Group (SVB). Today, he leads SVB Securities’ strategy to provide clients and investors across the innovation economy with the financial advisory services they need to support their growth and investment objectives. In 2021, SVB Securities expanded beyond healthcare to provide capital market and advisory services for the technology sector and it acquired technology equity research firm MoffettNathanson.

While at Leerink Partners, in 2008 Jeff co-founded and served on the board of Humedica, Inc., a clinical intelligence company incubated at Leerink Partners. The company was acquired in 2013 by Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group. Jeff serves on the board of Fog Pharmaceuticals and is on the Advisory Board of Pivotal Life Sciences Holdings Limited (“PLS”). Additionally, he serves on the board and is the former chairman of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts. He is a member of the Harvard Medical School Board of Fellows. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Union College.
