Robert R. Wood (Bob)


Robert “Bob” Wood is a managing director, loan syndications for Silicon Valley Bank. Bob leads the team responsible for syndication of the global fund banking group’s largest loan product for capital commitment lending facilities. He joined Silicon Valley Bank in 2018, and under his guidance, the syndication of capital commitment lending facilities has grown more than five times, helping to drive tremendous growth in lending for the group. Bob is passionate about developing his team for future success and building strong relationships, internally and externally, to promote opportunities for clients, the bank and his team.

Bob has more than 35 years of experience working in finance and lending. Before coming to Silicon Valley Bank, he served in a variety of roles for Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BAML), most recently as managing director, subscription finance, where he established the subscription finance group to manage subscription finance products for every line of business offered at BAML. His previous positions at Bank of America Merrill Lynch included director, securitization finance; and principal and vice president in asset backed securitization as an originator and portfolio manager, including handling all international transactions in Europe, Asia and South America. Earlier in his career, Bob worked in treasury, compliance and financial reporting for Prudential and as a senior accounting auditor for KPMG.

Bob holds an MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Belmont Abbey College. He is a retired CPA and has been a speaker and moderator for various Fund Finance Association industry events. For more than 15 years, Bob has been actively involved as an athletic director and as a board member for the St. Gabriel Athletic Association in Charlotte, in addition to organizing fundraisers for Mitey Riders, a local organization that provides therapeutic horseback riding for children with special needs.

Bob has been happily married to his wife, Ellen, for nearly 35 years; together, they have three children and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren. Outside of the office, Bob can be found traveling and reading. He is a sports enthusiast and youth club soccer, basketball and baseball coach. A little-known fact: Bob has been suiting up to play men’s softball since 1978 — and he hasn’t missed a season yet.
