Lou Abrams
Lou partners with founders from Pre-Seed through Series A, connecting them with financial solutions, ecosystem partners, strategic guidance and SVB’s national venture network to help them scale at every stage. He brings 15+ years of experience in financial services, including nearly a decade embedded in the startup and venture-backed technology ecosystem.
As a former founder, Lou knows what it’s like to sit on the other side of the table: he’s pitched investors, built a product from scratch and learned the hard way which decisions matter most when cash is tight and the clock is ticking.
Lou’s path to SVB started in Private Banking at JPMorgan and TD Wealth, where he built a deep understanding of wealth management and a growing frustration with who it left out. He went on to run his own financial planning practice before founding Fisecal, a fintech platform that automated financial planning to help institutions scale advice for people living paycheck to paycheck.
As a bootstrapped solo founder, Lou wore every hat (CEO, CRO, CMO, COO) building the company from the ground up before eventually growing a team of nine. That journey from banker to planner to founder shapes how he approaches advising startups today: less theory, more what-actually-works.
He received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Penn State University and a Certificate in Financial Planning from New York University. He holds the Commercial Banking & Credit Analyst designation and previously was a Certified Financial Planner professional.
Outside of work, you can find Lou on the pier walking his dog or chasing his next fitness goal. He cracked the top 6.5% at the 2022 NYC Marathon.
