Patrick Johnson

Patrick is a managing director at SVB responsible for SVB’s Startup Banking business development, sales, and founder success across key East Coast markets and is based out of the firm’s Washington, DC / Arlington, VA offices. Prior roles at SVB included serving as head of strategy for SVB’s Commercial Bank as well as chief of staff, both reporting to the president of SVB.

Prior to SVB, Patrick completed multiple stints at Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington DC, Singapore and San Francisco, leading diverse consulting engagements for Fortune 500 companies and large public sector clients and non-profits (market entry, product/market fit, cost restructuring, new business and revenue models, corporate ventures and innovation, etc.) as well as helping launch Booz Allen’s solution studio in San Francisco around new product development. He also co-founded a startup in the food/tourism space that went on to become the top ranked restaurant in Paris from 2013-16. While based in Paris, he worked with the OECD to design policies to help increase entrepreneurship.

He’s been mentoring and advising startups for over a decade. He graduated magna com laude and Phi Betta Kappa from the University of South Dakota (USD) and currently serves on the USD Foundation Board, with additional studies completed at Georgetown, Peking University and Johns Hopkins SAIS.
