Liz Smoose is a managing director for SVB Private in New York, where she focuses on financial planning for ultra-high net worth clients. She is a private wealth advisor with deep expertise in tax and estate planning. Liz closely monitors clients’ personal financial issues and coordinates and organizes resources to help clients achieve their goals while anticipating risks in a quickly changing tax landscape. She is passionate about providing a specialized experience to clients and delivering a more refined and quantitative method of wealth management by applying an endowment model approach to wealth management; this offers clients with balance sheets approaching and exceeding $50 to $100 million the benefit of strategic perspectives of both a CIO and CFO. Liz is excited to leverage these methods to aid in her clients’ growth.
Liz joined SVB Private in 2022. Before her current position, she advised private equity principals as a director with a multi-family office. There, she provided personalized advisory services, seeking a full understanding of her clients’ complex issues and proactively addressing their wealth and tax concerns. Earlier in her career, she designed and implemented estate planning initiatives for Goldman Sachs’ senior executives and partners as part of the company’s family office.
Liz holds a Master of Laws in taxation from the New York University School of Law and a J.D. from the Fordham University School of Law. She earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. She lives in New York City with her husband and son.
