Gerald Baker is the head of Wealth Strategies at SVB Private. Prior to SVB’s acquisition of Boston Private, he held various management roles at Boston Private, including chief fiduciary officer, chief compliance officer of Trust & Fiduciary Services and as head of compliance and risk management for Investment Management & Trust at Boston Private.
In his current role, Gerald is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all aspects of fiduciary administration and shares leadership responsibility for the delivery of advice driven solutions to meet clients’ wealth planning needs. He is chair of the Trust Administration and Trust Discretionary Review Committees, ensuring consistent delivery of fiduciary activities and custody services for commercial and private clients. Gerald enjoys helping clients navigate the complexities of wealth planning so they can meet their wealth transfer and preservation goals while continuing to positively impact their communities. Ever client-centric, Gerald supports clients on their journey to executing and achieving the full value proposition of holistic wealth, trust and estate planning.
Prior to joining SVB Private, Gerald was a vice president of Product Management & Oversight at BofA Global Capital Management. He also worked at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, handling escalated fiduciary administration and investment-management matters for high net worth and family office clients nationally.
Gerald is an active member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, serving as chair or vice chair of volunteer committees. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, taking cooking classes, studying history, and traveling internationally with his husband and friends. Gerald is also an avid supporter of various conservation initiatives for endangered species.
