Gerald Baker is head of trust, fiduciary and custody services and head of wealth and fiduciary strategies for SVB Private, a division of First Citizens Bank. Previously, he served as an executive managing director, chief fiduciary officer at Boston Private until 2021, when Boston Private was acquired by SVB. In his current role, Gerald is responsible for the oversight and implementation of all aspects of fiduciary administration, the development and delivery of advice-driven planning solutions to meet clients’ wealth strategies needs, and custody services for private and commercial clients who require bank custody services. He serves as chair of SVB’s trust administration committee and trust discretionary review committee, ensuring consistent delivery of fiduciary administration activities and custody services within SVB Private.
Gerald enjoys helping clients navigate the complexities of wealth planning for wealth transfer and preservation while they continue to positively impact their communities. Ever client-centric, he supports clients on their journeys of holistic wealth, trust and estate planning.
While at Boston Private, Gerald also held roles as a senior vice president, trust and fiduciary, chief compliance officer and vice president, risk management officer. Before that, he was a vice president of product management and oversight at BofA Global Capital Management. Earlier, Gerald worked at U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management, where he handled escalated fiduciary administration and investment-management matters for high net worth and national family office clients.
Gerald holds a juris doctorate from New England Law|Boston and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Pepperdine University. He is an active member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, serving as chair or vice chair of volunteer committees, and supports various conservation initiatives for endangered species.
In his spare time, Gerald enjoys cooking, taking cooking classes, studying history and traveling internationally with his husband and friends.
