Jake Mendel

Jake Mendel is a director with the Startup Banking practice and has led the bank's early-stage Crypto team since 2022. Jake works hands-on with the east coast's fastest-growing pre-Series A venture-backed Crypto startups. He specializes in guiding founders through the process of starting and growing a business and finding ways to improve their likelihood of success with fundraising, hiring, scaling and more. Previously he was the GM for Startup Banking in NYC, built the team’s first early-stage fintech focused portfolio, and led customer discovery initiatives for SVB's R&D division.

Prior to joining SVB in 2017, Jake was an operator in early-stage companies across the biotech, consumer and enterprise software sectors.

Jake received an MBA and a bachelor's in economics and entrepreneurship from The Ohio State University.
