Austin Badger is a director in SVB’s San Francisco office, where he leads a hardware and frontier technology team focused on adding strategic value for entrepreneurs, investors, and influencers within the industries of transportation, robotics, internet of things, aerospace, virtual reality, consumer electronics, and semiconductors. The role places him across the table from some of the world’s most innovative thinkers and equips him to help bring their bold and audacious visions to reality.
Previously, Austin has served several roles with SVB. Covering the largest clients in Corporate Finance, to more complex debt offerings within the credit world. Collectively he’s supported over 200 clients and led nearly 100 debt negotiations ranging from $2MM Series A venture debt to $200.0MM syndications. Before his time with SVB, Austin began his career in corporate finance at Merrill Lynch and subsequently helped manage individual and institutional accounts at Fisher Investments. From there, he worked his way up at hedge fund, Savitr Capital, a principal investment firm focusing on companies in the renewable and clean energy sector.
A Colorado kid, and graduate of the University of Colorado, Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and has completed training at the Investment Banking Institute. He also frequents various night classes at Stanford and UC Berkeley.
Austin and his wife are the parents of two young children, who have become his go-to photography models. He’s also known for his life-hacking pursuits, aka applying startup technology to everything from home improvement projects to his ride to work. He’s always looking for a new podcast, audiobook, or book recommendation.
