Professional Summary
Sulu Mamdani is a Partner with SVB Capital and co-leads the investment team. He is responsible for making venture capital fund investments as well as leading the group’s direct investment activity in the U.S. Sulu brings more than 17 years of private equity, investment banking and operations experience to SVB Capital.
Prior to joining SVB Capital in 2006, Sulu co-founded Mazu Networks (acquired by Riverbed Technology, NASDAQ: RVBD), a network security company backed by Matrix Partners, Greylock Partners and Benchmark Capital. Prior to Mazu, he worked for The Carlyle Group, where he was responsible for managing venture capital investments in emerging technology companies, as well as advising portfolio companies on financial and strategic growth initiatives. Prior to Carlyle, Sulu was with James D. Wolfensohn, Inc., a boutique investment bank and financial advisory firm.
Sulu graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Harvard College and received an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Sulu and his wife Zahra are passionate about international development. They lived overseas in Mozambique prior to moving to California and they continue to support education and health programs in Africa and Asia. This summer they introduced their interest to their two young children on a month-long trip to Mombasa, Kenya.
