Peter Freyer
Peter Freyer is managing director of the national healthcare sponsor finance team at SVB in the greater Los Angeles area. He’s a trusted ally to private equity firms, delivering the customized financing they need to successfully bid on healthcare enterprises. Peter’s clients count on his specialized expertise to guide them through the unique challenges involved in investing in this dynamic sector.
Having raised significant venture capital for his own startup company (Mediaconnex) early in his career, Peter delivers every service he provides with an entrepreneurial spirit. Peter has the unique experience of having previously been a client of the bank. Prior to joining SVB in 2010, Peter launched the sponsor finance healthcare group at Wells Fargo Foothill, growing the portfolio from $50 million to more than $600 million. His passion for healthcare took off in 2001 when he cofounded a contract research organization that steered drug and device companies through financing for clinical trial studies. Previously, at Capstone Advisory Group, he oversaw financial restructuring for several hospitals. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance at the Marshall School of Business at USC.
It doesn’t take long after meeting Peter that you know his passion lies with The Center, a nonprofit providing homeless services in Hollywood. Peter started volunteering at The Center in 2001, and has been on The Center’s Board of Directors for more than 13 years, has served as CFO of the organization and is currently the President and Chairman. Peter is the recent recipient of SVB’s Annual Community Service Award, given to one employee worldwide who is dedicated and committed to the greater good and gives significant time to community betterment. He’s also won SVB’s prestigious President’s Club Award twice – in 2012 and 2017.
While Peter is considered a financial wizard in his professional life, he works plenty of magic outside the office, too. He’s been a professional magician since the age of 12 and a member of Magic Castle in Hollywood for over 20 years. When he’s not traveling with his wife and two kids, Peter is devising strategies to successfully make it on to his next game show. His last appearance was on The Price is Right in 2016 – his unbelievable 10th game show cameo.
