Brian Schneider heads up Global Fund Banking for SVB in the greater New York City area. As market manager, he draws on his 22-plus years of expertise in middle-market banking, media/telecom lending, loan syndications, loan trading and capital markets to lead a growing team in a growing sector. A self-described “people person,” Brian has a gift for forging new relationships across SVB and throughout his client base. He continually strives to motivate his team, grow the business — and keep it fun.
Before joining SVB, Brian worked at Lloyds Bank, where he collaborated with relationship managers to originate primary loan syndications and secondary loan opportunities across a client base that included private equity funds, insurance firms and global corporations. While at Lloyds, he was also responsible for U.S. secondary loan activity. He previously worked in loan syndications, loan sales and trading at Dresdner Bank (now Commerzbank), where he proved his capacity for grace under pressure by managing a loan trading team throughout the financial crisis. Prior to that challenge, he gained expertise in media/telecom banking at Royal Bank of Canada, where he was integral to the team’s ongoing goal of building a book of business that exceeded $11 billion.
Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Wagner College and a master’s in business administration with a concentration in financial management from the Lubin School of Business — Pace University. Early in his career, while working in middle-market banking at Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase), he completed the firm’s intense credit training program.
