
Alex Murray
Alex Murray is a managing director, private wealth advisor for SVB Private in Irvine, California, where he works closely with clients to provide a full spectrum of wealth management services individually tailored to simplify their current and future financial affairs. Alex has more than 15 years of experience in banking and investments, during which he has assisted a wide array of clients and partners, including entrepreneurs, family offices, corporate executives, investment professionals and institutional investors. From this work, Alex has developed a clear and thoughtful perspective that helps him guide clients to understand how their wealth can best serve them. He is passionate about removing the complexities of wealth for his clients, allowing them to focus their time and attention on their families, businesses and lives.
Before joining SVB Private, Alex was an executive director and senior banker with J.P. Morgan Private Bank, where he was the relationship manager for private banking and investment management services to ultra-high net worth individuals, family offices, private foundations and endowments; he also sat on the national advisory council, directing executive leadership on strategic and operational topics. Alex was a vice president and account manager for Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), responsible for marketing, sales and service from its private bank and trust national marketplace. Earlier, he served as an officer in the US Navy for six years; among Alex’s accomplishments while serving was the development and implementation of the Department of Defense/J.P. Morgan Chase Navy/Marine Cash™ financial system, the first public-private financial venture by the US Navy and the Department of Treasury.
Alex earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, where he played on the varsity football team as a defensive end. He holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School. He is a board member for the Folds of Honor Southern California, a nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military members who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Alex is also a board member for Andersen Elementary DEANS (Dads Eliminating Andersen’s Needs), a treasurer for the Newport Beach Junior Basketball Association and a trustee for the Naval Academy Foundation’s athletic and scholarship programs.
Outside of the office, Alex and his wife are the parents of three wonderful children. Their family has two black labs, Tugboat and Tilly.
