Shelley Li

As a vice president in Technology Banking for Silicon Valley Bank in Toronto, Shelley Li ensures that her clients receive the forward-focused relationship-management expertise that Canada’s tech sector demands. While keeping pace with the fast-moving innovators she serves, Shelley also thrives on going deep to gain a rich understanding of each client’s unique and complex challenges. A problem-solver by nature and by calling, Shelley’s passion is to help these visionaries untangle financial snags they might encounter as they grow new products and ideas that positively impact our world.

Prior to joining SVB, Shelley served as a relationship manager at the Business Development Bank of Canada, where she partnered with fast-growing small- to mid-sized Canadian businesses. In this role, she provided debt solutions to help these entrepreneurs meet their working capital needs and grow, while also acting as a trusted consultant to help them with their operational challenges. Earlier in her career, Shelley was a relationship manager at HSBC Commercial Banking, where she managed a book of international businesses and provided customized trade financing solutions. In addition, Shelley has prior experience in the sales and strategy group of CIBC Asset Management. Shelley holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from the Schulich School of Business, York University, Ontario.

In her free time, Shelley serves as the associate director of the Markham, Richmond Hill & Vaughan Chinese Business Association. Her off-work hobbies include playing the cello, dance and swimming; she also enjoys a fun side-gig as a host for events such as charity galas, business functions and conferences.
