Silicon Valley Bank Names Brian Araki Investment Products and Services Division Manager

Santa Clara -- May 16, 2001 -- Silicon Valley Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of Silicon Valley Bancshares,has named Brian Araki Investment Products and Services Division Manager.

This Division provides corporate cash management services for both pre- and post-IPO emerging technology and life sciences companies served by the Bank. Clients are provided with direct access to high-grade money market instruments, which provide highly competitive yields compatible with the company's need for liquidity.

Prior to joining Silicon Valley Bank, Araki was a client relationship manager in the Palo Alto Corporate Services Division of Salomon Smith Barney, where he was responsible for managing the firm's largest corporate services re-investment program. In addition to his extensive banking experience, Araki spent ten years in the commercial real estate and real estate development industries.

Araki earned a bachelor's degree in finance from San Jose State University. He also holds several licenses, including Series 7, 63, and 65 securities licenses, a California Life Agent Insurance license, and a California Real Estate license.
