SANTA CLARA, Calif. - May 10, 2004 - Silicon Valley Bank, the primary operating subsidiary of Silicon Valley Bancshares [Nasdaq: SIVB], today announced its director of multimedia, Steve Norfleet, has been recognized for his outstanding achievements as a filmmaker and has received multiple industry awards for his documentary about the company. In celebration of Silicon Valley Bank's twentieth anniversary in 2003, Norfleet lead the development and production of a documentary chronicling the history of the company, from concept and start-up to multi-billion-dollar, global financial institution.
"Silicon Valley Bank: Reinventing an Industry, Financing the Future," has become part of the permanent collection of the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California, the premier museum in the world devoted to exploring the computing revolution and its impact on people's lives.
The film features interviews with legendary Silicon Valley figures and documents the rise of the region and the technology industry through the company's story. For his outstanding efforts, Norfleet received multiple awards from international film industry organizations that considered hundreds of films in their documentary categories:
The forty-seven minute film, which was written by Brendan Smith-Bentley, Silicon Valley Bank's corporate communications editor and directed by Norfleet, chronicles the company's milestones, missteps and achievements against the backdrop of the last 20 years in Silicon Valley. The documentary is based on first-hand accounts from SVB co-founders Bill Biggerstaff and Bob Medearis, past and present employees and Silicon Valley notables including Larry Sonsini, Mark Hoffman and Barry Weinman.
