Nominations Open for the New England Venture Capital Association's Inaugural NEVY Awards Celebrating the Best of Boston's Startup Community

BOSTON, March 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The New England Venture Capital Association (NEVCA) is calling for nominations for the first annual NEVY Awards, which will celebrate the best of Boston's startup community. Nominations are limited to companies and individuals located in New England.

 

"New England has spawned and grown some of the world's most promising innovations. From biotech, to robotics, mobile, big data, enterprise infrastructure, e-commerce, travel and much more, the NEVY'S will celebrate the big ideas, hard work, and breakthrough innovations that are building the next generation of companies that matter," said C.A. Webb, executive director of the NEVCA. "As our entrepreneurial community continues to fuel itself through collaboration across investors, start-ups, stalwarts, and academic institutions, it is important to step back and appreciate the unique contributions fueling our region's growth."

 

The NEVY'S will be given out on May 1 during an evening of non-stop cocktails and awesome food with a killer crowd of hard-charging entrepreneurs and VCs. The event will take place at The Sinclair in Cambridge from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

NEVY'S will be issued in 10 categories:

 
  1. Entrepreneur of the Year
  2. VC of the Year (firm)
  3. Exit of the Year
  4. Deal of the Year
  5. Angel of the Year
  6. Rising Star (an entrepreneur to watch)
  7. Rising Star (an individual VC to watch)
  8. Stealth Star (a.k.a. Best Company You've Never Heard of)
  9. Best New Startup (founded in the last 12 months)
  10. Hottest Startup (this company is going to set the world on fire)
    Nominations can be submitted online in a brief form at www.newenglandvc.org/nevy-awards through March 18. For ticket information, visit: http://www.nevyawards.eventbrite.com/. Finalists will be announced in early April. A panel of venture capitalists and entrepreneurs will select the final winners, which will be revealed during the awards dinner on May 1.
