Michael Hanewich is Head of Life Sciences for SVB Silicon Valley Bank’s Eastern Division. Based in Boston, he is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with venture capital firms, entrepreneurs, as well as accounting and law firms within the life science industry. Hanewich also leads the Life Science Practice in his role as national life sciences coordinator for the company. He has more than 25 years of commercial banking experience and extensive expertise of working with life science companies.
Before joining SVB in 1999, Hanewich was an executive vice president for Flagship Bank and Trust Company for 10 years. He was instrumental in developing its biotechnology business and provided its clients with the proper financing and treasury management services needed to grow their businesses. Before joining Flagship Bank and Trust, Hanewich was with the Dun & Bradstreet Corporation for six years.
Hanewich is a member of the board of directors of The American Pain Foundation in Baltimore, MD, and a member of the New England Healthcare Institute in Cambridge, Mass. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla., and a graduate degree from The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware. Hanewich is also a member of the Eckerd College Tritons Hall of Fame for baseball.
