Sven Weber was formerly president of SVB Capital, SVB Financial Group’s funds management business. In this role, Mr. Weber oversaw the company’s venture capital investing business which included fund of funds and direct investment funds exceeding $1.5 billion under management. Mr. Weber joined SVB in 2009 with more than 15 years of experience in private equity, entrepreneurship and business development.
Prior to this position, Mr. Weber was managing director in SVB Capital’s funds-of-funds business. There he created a secondary market function for SVB Capital, helping to redefine the company’s direct investment strategy, and strengthened the company’s relationships with its high-performing venture clients.
Prior to joining SVB Capital in 2009, Mr. Weber was a principal and venture partner at Cipio Partners and founder of Innovature Capital Partners, a secondary direct investment firm. Until 2006, Mr. Weber was Vice President at Siemens Communications, Inc., where he was responsible for early stage wireless investments in the United States. Prior to this, Mr. Weber’s experience include Business Development at Vodafone Germany and founding the Internet service business for O2 Germany.
Mr. Weber has served on various boards of private companies and is involved in several industry associations. He holds a master’s degree in physics from the University of Heidelberg, where he specialized in information technology and environmental physics.
