Mike Devery


Mike Devery is Head of the Strategic Capital Group. SVB’s Strategic Capital Group provides junior debt options (mezzanine and convertible debt) for growth stage technology companies. Since inception the group has provided over $6.8B in commitments to some 330 companies nationwide and in Europe and Israel. From 2008 to 2013, Mike was a Senior Market Manager for the Rocky Mountain region which covers all of the bank’s activities in an 8 state region including AZ, CO and Utah where the bank has physical locations. As Market Manager, Mike oversaw all lending and product delivery for the various teams and product groups. A 25 year veteran of SVB, Mike was previously a managing director for SVB Capital (direct investments in venture funds and technology companies), covering the Central United States.

From 1996 to 2003, Mike was manager of the Colorado office and a senior vice president in SVB’s Software Capital Practice in Palo Alto, CA. Prior to joining Silicon Valley Bank, Mike spent three years with Union Bank’s Middle Market Group in San Francisco. He also served for two years in Sony Music’s Finance Department in New York City.

Mike earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Colorado and a master’s degree in business administration from Thunderbird, the Garvin School of Management.

Mike previously served as a board member of 1908 Brands which manages a family of natural, organic and eco-friendly cleaning products; the Entrepreneur’s Foundation of Colorado, a philanthropic funding vehicle through which founders pledge equity to the non-profit of their choice; Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA); and Impact on Education, a non-profit focused on supplemental funding for at-risk school children.
