Joan Parsons is Executive Vice President, Corporate Banking for Silicon Valley Bank and is a member of the company’s executive committee. In this role, she oversees Specialty Debt Products, Mezzanine Finance, Sponsored Finance, Life Science, Energy and Resource Innovation practices, Loan Syndications, Non-Credit Product Sales and SVB Analytics, which delivers valuations, research and strategic advisory services for Technology and Life Science clients.
Joan Parsons has over 30 years of banking experience and has served Silicon Valley Bank in a variety of leadership positions since joining the company in 1994. After successfully leading and growing the Eastern Division of the company, Parsons took on the role of Chief Banking Officer in 2006 and Head of US Banking in 2008.
Before joining Silicon Valley Bank, Parsons served in a variety of Corporate Banking roles for Fleet Bank of Massachusetts, Barclays Bank PLC and Mellon Bank. Across her banking career she has managed new business development, client relationship management, internal management, credit and risk management.
Parsons graduated cum laude from Wheaton College with a double major in Economics and Art History and studied at Dartmouth College and London School of Economics. She was honored with Silicon Valley Bank’s Biggerstaff Award in 1999 for individuals who exemplify the company’s Guiding Principles and demonstrate outstanding leadership, client focus and extra-ordinary performance.
Parsons is married with 2 children, lives bi-coastally in Dover, MA and Palo Alto, CA. Currently she serves as a Board member of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Greater Bay Area Chapter and remains active with the Noble and Greenough School on Development and Capital Campaign committees.
