Venture capitalists and startup company executives who attended the latest Silicon Valley Bank SVB Showcase event were generally upbeat about prospects for  technology, life science and cleantech innovation and investment. The quarterly invitation-only pitch event on Oct. 29 brought together dozens of people from early and growth stage companies seeking to raise their next round of funding, and from venture capitalist firms.

"I think with the opening of the exit markets, we’re going to see funding starting to open up again," said one participant, Alex de Winter, a partner at Mohr Davidrow Ventures.

"We're looking to raise funds to fuel our expansion" Ralph Peluso, COO/CFO, Telstar Hosted Services.

The event's value to participants goes beyond the prospect of immediate funding.

It's not just about fund-raising, it's about opportunities for collaboration, for partnership. It's really about getting the message out and helping to socialize these companies with a highly relevant audience.
