SVB established an operation in Shanghai in 2005 called SVB Business Partners (Shanghai). Through its longstanding relationships worldwide and a variety of professional services, SVB helps our venture capital clients and Chinese technology companies succeed by bringing the full scope of SVB Financial Group’s knowledge and networks to China:

• Assists with venture debt financings and offshore banking needs
• Provides client support services for banking products such as loans, deposits and cash management services to the offshore entities of various Chinese venture-backed enterprises

SVB is actively working toward the establishment of a banking platform in China, beginning with a rep office in Shanghai.

Additionally, SVB has been focusing on building strategic alliances with local partners and the Chinese government, especially in the technology and life sciences sectors. For example, in 2008, SVB invested in Zhejiang Uni-power Guaranty Company Limited.
