Learn more about SVB 30 Years | 30 Causes
As Silicon Valley Bank has expanded globally in the past several years, the company has worked hard to transfer our core values and culture to new offices around the world. Being active in our communities is as valuable to SVB as cultivating our business relationships. Our team in China completely agrees.
With that, and as part of SVB’s global 30 Years|30 Causes campaign, fifteen volunteers from SVB in Beijing and Shanghai set out to offer our support, energy and friendship to students at Sunshine Home in Da Pu Qiao. The organization provides a supportive space and a daily destination for adults with developmental and learning disabilities. With the help of HandsOn Shanghai we arranged to participate in the group’s daily activities.
We were thrilled to meet about 20 students who arrived eager to start their activities and make introductions. The Sunshine Home staff, referred to by the students as “big brother” and “big sister,” could not have been more welcoming and accommodating to SVB and their students. After a day spent painting, learning new songs, exchanging ideas, and receiving much-needed art lessons from the students, our team left feeling we received much more than we gave that day.
As we continue to build SVB’s presence in China, we will be sure to carry on the company’s spirit of service. It makes us better.
