Care Packages and Kindness for Breast Cancer ConnectionsDecember 17, 2013 Posted by: Kara Hackenburg
Breast Cancer Connections (BCC) was founded 20 years ago in Palo Alto, CA to serve people dealing with breast cancer. Responding to an overwhelming need for emotional support by cancer patients and their families, the organization committed itself to ensuring that no one faces breast cancer alone.
As part of SVB's 30 Years|30 Causes campaign, we worked with HandsOn Bay Area to offer extra hands and help for BCC's clients by creating small gifts to provide a little comfort during a trying time.
Nearly 120 SVB volunteers produced 155 lavender-scented eye pillows filled with thirty-seven pounds of flaxseed and 65 seat belt covers sewn with seventy-eight spools of thread. More than 200 BCC clients will receive these handmade gifts along with a handwritten note of encouragement from our volunteers. We were thrilled to be able to offer the resources to BCC that will enable them to support even more people as they battle disease.
Breast Cancer Connections (BCC) relies on hundreds of volunteers to provide free, high-quality services that support their clients in its Palo Alto location and it continues to grow to meet the needs in our community.
