The Silicon Valley Bank network, extended through the teams in our local offices around the country, is making it possible for me to sit down with client CEOs and some fascinating guest speakers as part of our 30 for 30 CEO events* this year. Last week I had the opportunity to speak with Mayor Rahm Emanuel and CIO Brenna Berman of the City of Chicago, and meet about two dozen CEOs from the Chicago area.
Rahm's always colorful demeanor promised a fun evening, but the passion for technology and innovation that he and Brenna, who began running the operations of Department of Innovation and Technology earlier this summer, shared was inspiring. They are working to transform Chicago into an even larger hub for technical innovation and create an environment that attracts and supports young entrepreneurs.
Wherever I go, in the US and internationally, I'm inspired by the local governments, business communities, tech companies and individuals who are doing all they can to enable innovation to take hold in their city and help entrepreneurs build new companies and create jobs. Technical innovation is very clearly a global phenomenon with no signs of slowing down. I'm excited because I know that our SVB teams around the world are working hard to enhance their efforts.
