Supremely happy people devote their time to others and studies show that the bonds between humans and animals also have a strong impact on the health of both, so when we had an opportunity to get involved in a community project in honor of SVB's 30th anniversary, we reached out to PAWS. (See happy pet videos here).
PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society) rescues and rehabilitates domestic and wild animals. In addition to providing shelter and adoption for homeless cats and dogs, PAWS also provides services for the people who care for them including education resources.
For our part, eleven members of the SVB Seattle office spent the day landscaping the PAWS facility in Lynnwood. It was a fantastic team effort and one of those odd-jobs that is often a big help for a non-profit. We re-graveled their parking lot with 37 yards of crushed rock (according to Google that's over 100,000 pounds of weight!) We were moving a little slowly by the end of the day but we have a new appreciation for our office jobs.
The staff at Lynnwood PAWS is dedicated group of individuals. We hope that our efforts give them (and its visitors) one less thing to worry about.
We were rewarded for our efforts by the locals at PAWS' Companion Animal Shelter and Cat City.
