Learn more about SVB 30 years | 30 causes
For the past 12 years, Entrepreneurs for North Texas (EFNT) has been bringing businesses together each September 11 to volunteer for a local cause to honor so many lives lost. Since Freedom Day began, local companies have dedicated thousands of hours in service in Dallas and North Texas. This year in honor of SVB’s 30th anniversary, we joined 500 volunteers from 45 companies, including several of our clients and partners, to give Atwell Middle School in Dallas a refresh.
“It’s a significant event that shows students at Atwell Middle School that the Dallas business community truly cares about their future,” Pam Gerber, Executive Director of EFNT, told the Dallas Business Journal.
Atwell Middle School is a law academy that provides opportunities for eligible 6th-8th grade students to learn about the legal profession and interact with professionals from law-related fields. Once the 1,000 children, teachers and staff left in busses that morning for a field trip, our team joined the large crew of the volunteers who fanned out across the school to paint, clean, repair and landscape the campus. The SVB team tackled a large painting project.
By the end of the day, students, teachers and staff returned to a made-over, freshend-up campus, that we’re proud to say we helped create. Our technology clients constantly struggle to find skilled workers to help run their innovative businesses and meet their ambitious goals, so we know first-hand the importance of investing in education to build a stronger workforce. Every little bit we can do as a community to contribute to a stronger, more vibrant education for our local kids, will pay off in the long run.
The turn out and partnership by so many organizations in the North Texas technology ecosystem, including our clients Telligent, Keste and Optimal Solutions, showcased the power of partnership and collaboration for a good cause.
